Wireless ultrasound coverage for fast-moving care.
A mobile ultrasound setup can keep focused imaging close to the bedside, resuscitation area or distributed care team when the selected array and approved application match the clinical question.
Coverage starts with the questions your team asks most often.
Emergency and critical-care teams may move between deeper abdominal views, superficial structures, vascular access and focused cardiac windows. A broad-coverage configuration can reduce the need to return to a cart or exchange separate systems, but the useful range still depends on array geometry, frequency, acoustic access, operator training and the locally approved software configuration.
Match the array to the examination
Convex arrays prioritize a broad curved field and deeper penetration. Linear arrays support rectangular, higher-frequency views of vessels, lung surface, soft tissue and compatible procedural targets. Phased arrays provide a sector-shaped view through smaller acoustic windows for compatible focused cardiac work. A multi-array probe can bring these geometries together, while a dedicated probe may suit a narrower service line.
Design the mobile workflow around readiness
The phone or tablet is part of the system. Confirm supported hardware, operating-system and application versions, battery readiness, storage, Wi-Fi behavior and cleaning responsibilities before clinical deployment. Teams should also decide where the probe is stored, who checks it between shifts and how a mobile device is prepared without introducing delays at the point of care.
Connect images to documentation and governance
Image capture is only one part of the workflow. Determine whether the selected configuration supports the required still, clip or DICOM output and how approved studies will reach PACS or the electronic medical record. Local credentialing, documentation rules, information security, quality assurance and escalation pathways remain essential even when the hardware is compact.
Evaluation checklist
- List the deep, superficial, vascular and focused cardiac questions the team must cover.
- Verify mobile-device, battery, cleaning and storage readiness for the intended care area.
- Confirm locally approved applications and the documentation pathway before deployment.
Scope and review note
This page provides general information for trained healthcare professionals. Product specifications are checked against available technical source documentation. Clinical context is not medical advice and does not replace local instructions for use, approved indications, clinical training, governance or professional judgment. Where named specialist review is completed, the reviewer and credentials will be identified explicitly.
